san francisco

while we were in fresno we spent a day in san francisco!
we had a blast!
one of my favorite thing about being a mom is taking sam new places and watching him experience new things (i think i'll pass out from excitement the day we take him to disneyland for the first time).
there is absolutely nothing like watching your child experience new and exciting things.
sam was in awe over the trolleys, the huge crowds, and the bay. we put him in his stroller without the carseat attachment experience the whole city as we strolled through.
he loved spending quality time with grandma and grandpa. we were able to eat at the cheesecake factory that overkooks union square, do some shopping, ride the trolley down to pier 39, and then stop in to see the painted ladies. minus the huge blowout sam had on the pier, the day was pretty perfect:)
although it was a little bit colder than we anticipated, we still had such a great time.
i love that city. and i love my little family.

{we met the cutest little kids on the trolley who were absolutely loving making sam laugh}

 {this picture is hilarious to me. sophie sticking out of bens back pocket is priceless}
{by the time we made it over to see the painted ladies the sun had set and it was overcast so i couldn't get a good picture. but still, i was in heaven. "whatever happened to predictability. the milkman, the paperboy, evening tv?"

and now a few iphone pictures.

the adventures of solid foods

we started experimenting with solids when sam was around 5 months.
we got the go ahead from his pediatrician and i was actually really excited to introduce different flavors to sam to see how he reacted.
i honestly thought i would have to work with him for a while until he got the hang of spoon feeding but boy was i wrong!
we started with baby oatmeal and as soon as i placed that spoon full of oatmeal in front of him he practically nose dived for the spoon and soon i couldn't feed him fast enough.
we did oatmeal for about a month, starting with once a day and gradually increasing to three times a day.
once sam hit six months we introduced him to vegetables.
he was in heaven!
we probably have 30+ videos of him eating.
his facial expressions were priceless.
but he loved every single one. soon after that we introduced fruits and ever since then meal time has been his favorite time of the day.
and i actually really enjoy sitting down to feed him and watch him babble and smile in between bites.
we also recently got him a high chair because he's outgrowing his bumbo and he loves that thing!
i pull his high chair up close to me while i'm cooking dinner in the kitchen and he loves having his own space to sit and play while being able to keep a close eye on me.

sams first trip to the zoo

while we were in fresno we decided it would be fun to take sam to the zoo.
sam seemed to enjoy all the different animals, but honestly, i'm fairly certain ben and i got more entertainment out of it than sam did.
i hadn't been to the fresno zoo since i was maybe 3 or 4 and seriously LOVED IT.
ben and i were so surprised at how fun it was!
i kept telling ben that i thought me new calling in life was to be a zoo keeper. (ha. but seriously. have you seen "we bought a zoo"?)
i think the orangutans were our favorite. those things were crazy.
