san francisco

while we were in fresno we spent a day in san francisco!

we had a blast! 

one of my favorite thing about being a mom is taking sam new places and watching him experience new things (i think i'll pass out from excitement the day we take him to disneyland for the first time). 

there is absolutely nothing like watching your child experience new and exciting things. 

sam was in awe over the trolleys, the huge crowds, and the bay. we put him in his stroller without the carseat attachment experience the whole city as we strolled through. 

he loved spending quality time with grandma and grandpa. we were able to eat at the cheesecake factory that overkooks union square, do some shopping, ride the trolley down to pier 39, and then stop in to see the painted ladies. minus the huge blowout sam had on the pier, the day was pretty perfect:)

although it was a little bit colder than we anticipated, we still had such a great time. 

i love that city. and i love my little family.

{by the time we made it over to see the painted ladies the sun had set and it was overcast so i couldn't get a good picture. but still, i was in heaven. "whatever happened to predictability. the milkman, the paperboy, evening tv?"

sams first trip to the zoo

while we were in fresno we decided it would be fun to take sam to the zoo. 

sam seemed to enjoy all the different animals, but honestly, i'm fairly certain ben and i got more entertainment out of it than sam did. 

i hadn't been to the fresno zoo since i was maybe 3 or 4 and seriously LOVED IT. 

ben and i were so surprised at how fun it was!

i kept telling ben that i thought me new calling in life was to be a zoo keeper. (ha. but seriously. have you seen "we bought a zoo"?)

i think the orangutans were our favorite. those things were crazy.

a little vitamin d

because i had sam in september, it immediately started getting cold outside and i pretty much never took him outdoors because it was freezing and because the flu season hit in full force. 

and because it's still not technically summer weather here in idaho, i was so so excited to be able to let sam hang out outdoors for the first time since he has been born while we were in fresno. 

i couldn't wait for him to feel the grass and just relax outside without being bundled up.

after church on easter sunday, we relaxed in the back yard with mckenzie and matthew and sam was soaking every moment up.
