thoughts on pregnancy

i have been so bad at blogging that i don't even think i have announced that WE'RE HAVING A BOY!
we are so excited for this little man to join our family.
i haven't even met him yet and i already love him so much.
i think the most entertaining part thus far has been watching ben throughout this process.
hearing him talk about his son like he already knows him and talk about all the things he can't wait to teach him makes my heart skip a beat. i love it.
here is a pic of the bump at week 20 (although right now i am 23 weeks)

i get weekly emails from the bump.com about the progress of my little guy
 here are his current stats/facts:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long, he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

he is currently the size of a corn on the cob!

a few of my thoughts:

+ i'm still experiencing morning sickness. i've completely given up on the fact that it will ever end and have accepted that i might just be dealing with this throughout my whole pregnancy. however, once i hit about 11am, i feel pretty good the rest of the day.
+ i, of course, only crave things that i can't have. i want zeni ya, me n eds (this is a HUGE one. no other pizza sounds appetizing), in n out, and broilers. and because all of these are located in fresno, i'm out of luck. so annoying.
+the only food aversion i have had has been fried rice. weird.
+ boys names are SO HARD. for some weird reason ben and i were certain we were having a girl and had a girl named picked out. since finding out we're expecting a boy, the only name we have come up with is another girl name.
girl names: 2 boy names: 0
it's looking like it's gonna be a game time decision:)
+ maternity clothes look weird and my own clothes don't fit. so that's awesome.
+ however, feeling those sweet little jabs and kicks make the weight gain, sickness, etc. oh so worth it. i live for those. he mostly moves early morning and when i lay down at night. and just after i eat. it's such an incredible feeling. ben felt him kick for the first time a few weeks ago and it was so sweet.
+ we are so, so excited for this new chapter of our lives and can't wait september!

ps.
if you have any boy names that you don't plan on using for your own children send them our way:)

oh and here is a 4d pic from our 20 week appointment.
i just love his little nose.

disneyland

a few weeks back ben and i met up with my family in southern california for a little disneyland adventure.
seriously, that place  will never get old. never.
it was so good to see my family and to introduce ben to the magic that is disney.
he hadn't been since he was 5 and his only memory of disneyland was crying on the teacups.
naturally, we had to change that.
also, because i'm pregnant i couldn't ride some of the best rides. so i ate my weight in disneyland churros instead. it was fantastic:)
we forgot our camera so thank you mr. iphone for capturing our vacation...

ps. my mom was with us too. but somehow i have no photographic evidence of this.

happy monday!

guess what?!

...we are SO excited!!!

recent obsession

as you can tell by my lack of blogging, journaling is not my strong suit.
so one of my new years resolutions this year was to improve on my journaling.
and then i found this!
i LOVE it.
it's seriously so easy and it gives you something to look back on.
you write one line a day for five years and voila!...a five year memory book.
plus i love that i will be able to see what i did on the same day over a five year span.
i highly recommend!

a very merry christmas

i am fairly certain i am breaking every rule in blog land by blogging about christmas in...march.
but this is happening. it is still snowing outside so i feel justified in my decision.
for christmas we went down to fresno to spend christmas with my family.
it was so great to be home for a while...and to watch ben experience some of our family traditions for the first time.
he's never done pj's on christmas eve. am i the only one that thinks that weird?
needless to say, it was a blast!

update via instagram

disclaimer:
i thought i posted this post weeks ago but just found it sitting in my drafts.
whoopies.
oh well. better late than never. and since it is a bit late i have added a few christmas pics from my phone.
therefore, chronologically, this post wont make much sense.

we've been gearing up for christmas recently...
i've stocked up on fall candles and all the christmas scentsy scents.
{i managed to score 80 dollars worth of bath and body candles for 30. best 30 dollars i've ever spent}
we've watched elf at least 4 times and our tree has been up for almost a month.
it's so pretty.

we just have to make it through this week then miss samantha is coming to stay for a few days then we are all piling into the car and making the drive to california for christmas!

other than that things have been fairly busy around here.
ben and i have both been working, ben has started studying for the gmat (which will be taking a lot of his time. boo.) and we have been busy trying to get our christmas shopping dunzo.

here are a few pictures of life lately.

* (1) nutella cupcakes, (2) flowers and peeps (the key to any girls heart), (3) me n' stans,  (4) cousin bonding time,  (5&6) babysitting the kiddos, (7) first snow, (8) ward turkey bowl, (9,10,11,12) enjoying christmas, (13&14) samantha visiting, (15) keeping it classy for christmas eve dinner, (16) passed out after opening presents, (17&18) temple square, (19&20) gav trying to be like his uncle benny.

ps. thanksgiving was amazing.
so much, in fact, that i forgot to document it.
sore subject.
but we spent this year with the webb family.
we ate ourselves into a food coma, played lots of games, and enjoyed the company of family and friends all day.
even though i did not capture any pictures i did manage to document this...
i like to call this the thanksgiving rumble.

we hope that everyone is enjoying this holiday season and the opportunity that it provides to reflect on what we are most grateful for:)
